Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking an Aircraft Painter 1/2 to join our E-2D Manufacturing and Production team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Saint Augustine, FL.

We are looking for someone who has a high a ttention to detail and quality assurance. To be successful in this role you need strong teamwork and time management skills, as well as strong communication skills for technical instructions.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Paints aircraft interior, exterior and piece parts.
  • Prepares for painting by masking, stripping, washing aircraft sections and components with the use of using abrasives, solvents, and brushes .
  • Blends and mixes paints, inks, and coatings to proper spraying consistency.
  • Performs detail and touch-ups.
  • Sets-up and coordinates processes for painting production parts.
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance of all currently used painting equipment.
  • Install masking for strips or other aircraft painting details
  • Ability to collaboratively work on a Team in a dynamic and high-pressure environment.
  • Work in a variety of work spaces/positions. Work spaces may include but are not limited to small, enclosed spaces, and awkward spaces. Positions may include bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, and/or working overhead.
  • Strong understanding of safety standards and PPE.

This requisition may be filled at a Painter 1 or Painter 2 based on the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications Level 1:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required and experience in automotive painting (color matching, blending, bodywork) and/or aircraft painting (FAA regulations, composite materials, stenciling).
  • Valid driver's license; willingness to travel.
  • Must be able to be respirator qualified, wear an air supply, and operate in full body air supplied gear.
  • Physical ability for tasks such as standing, lifting up to 40lbs, accessing and working around overhead or enclosed spaces, and color vision.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret DOD clearance AND Special Program Access (SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as required by the business.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active DOD Secret clearance.
  • Experience in MS Office, MES, and ERP.
  • Certification in industrial painting.
  • Proficiency in spray painting, surface preparation, and application methods.
  • Familiarity with paints, coatings, and finishes for automotive or aircraft.
  • Knowledge of installation of logos, symbols, or designs on painted surfaces according to blueprint specifications
  • Understanding of Production Manufacturing MIL-SPEC
  • Strong understanding of bodywork
  • Knowledge of quality control and environmental regulations.

Primary Level Salary Range: $40,700.00 - $67,900.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $48,400.00 - $80,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
