About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00]

Location: Position is currently remote but may work at or visit a facility based on business need or be required to report regularly to a FirstEnergy Location such as Akron, OH; Greensburg, PA; Reading, PA; or Fairmont, WV locations.

An IT Application Configuration Analyst on the Field Mobility Systems team is responsible for enhancing, maintaining, and supporting applications, hardware, and network connectivity that support FirstEnergy Utilities mobile field workers and Fleet services. You will be assisting with supporting current as well as implementing new and next generation mobile field execution platforms.

What you’ll do:

  • Learning and understanding the business processes associated with supported applications.
  • Developing application interfaces, maintaining reports, and vendor package applications.
  • Understand system interface design & data flows to support complex inbound and outbound interfaces.
  • Developing technical designs that meet business needs and support the company’s strategic direction.
  • Properly leveraging the correct technology for the defined requirements.
  • Follow IT Change Management and Incident ticket processes.
  • Work on cross-functional teams to accomplish overall IT projects and objectives
  • Consistently deliver high quality results.
  • Constantly look for better ways of solving technical problems and improving solutions.
  • Manage and support mobile deployment of 2500+ Field worker computers and network connectivity solutions.
  • Administer, support and enhance FirstEnergy’s GPS asset tracking and telemetry system.
  • Administer, support and enhance FirstEnergy’s Fleet management systems.
  • Support FirstEnergy’s Field worker remote work execution systems.
  • Documenting processes/procedures and specifications for supported applications.
  • Developing clear documentation for completed products.
  • Document processes/procedures and specifications for peers
  • Working independently or with business analysts to support requirements gathering and test scenario identification.
  • Unit, integration, performance and stress testing support for application enhancements, upgrades, and patches.
  • Create and execute unit test plans related to product enhancements, implementations, patches, or upgrades
  • Investigating and resolving problems with supported applications in a production support environment.
  • Collaborate with software vendors on issue identification & resolution, installation of software, and routine software patching.
  • Solving complex problems and troubleshooting functionality for issue identification.
  • Respond to 2nd/3rd level support requests that are related to Field Mobility technologies.
  • Supporting FE Operations during emergencies and storm-related activities and travel to various FirstEnergy locations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and be available for call-in and after-hours support (7X24 operations).

An employee hired at Level III or IV, will be expected to perform the above responsibilities with greater proficiency and in a more independent manner.

What you will need to be qualified:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer/Management Information Systems, a related degree, or commensurate experience
  • Minimum 2-4 years related experience
    • Related experience includes, but is not limited:
      • Experience with Oracle and SQL databases with proven ability to develop SQL Queries, Stored Procedures, Packages, and Views.
      • Integration experience utilizing APIs, REST web services, and other integration methods.
      • Experience working on Windows Servers, Linux, and/or UNIX.
      • Microsoft Active Directory, certificate management, Power Platform (Apps, Automate, BI), PowerShell, profile management, or Windows OS
      • Mobile networking & monitoring
  • Highly motivated to work independently and productively, but also able to effectively collaborate and build relationships in a virtual environment
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Quickly learn new concepts in information technology, learn the characteristics of new systems and update skills to adapt to changing technology
  • Ability to work flexible hours and be available for call-in and after-hours support (7X24 operations).

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of the Work Management and Field Mobility suite of applications (i.e., CREWS, FEWS, ARCOS, FWRD, OMA, Geotab, FEU Maps, ToughPics and AssetWorks M5), is a plus
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow.
  • Familiarity working in the electric utility industry.
  • Familiarity with Azure Dev Ops and working in an agile environment.
