Area Market Leader

Canada Controls is an award-winning, nationally recognized technology company distributing Building Automation and IIoT products. Due to growth, Canada Controls is seeking a full-time Area Market Leader in the Ottawa, ON and surrounding areas. The position will be heavily focused on customer service and will be responsible for customer relationships and sales growth for existing customer accounts as well as developing new accounts in the HVAC, Building Automation, and Controls industry.

The ideal candidate should have a background in HVAC or building automation/controls and have a strong customer service background.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handle day-to-day customer activities for assigned customers and prospects
  • Servicing customer orders & technical needs
  • Developing relationships with individual purchasers, engineers, and large end user clients
  • Develop marketing strategies for new products with Customers
  • Develop and maintain relationships with purchasing contacts
  • Investigate and resolve customer concerns with quality, delivery, and application of product
  • New Product Planning - Investigate new products for the area, test viability, and integrate into market with Product Manager
  • Promoting products, solutions, and services to customers
  • Manage and grow customer base by traveling throughout assigned territory to call on current and prospective customers
  • Visit job sites as needed to help determine customer control needs
  • Quote prices, credit terms and take off jobs for customers
  • Negotiate mutually beneficial agreements with large customers
  • Prepare reports of business transactions and turn in monthly expense reports
  • Work with inside sales representatives to keep account activities and literature up to date
  • Coordinate customer training
  • Enter new customer data and other sales data for current customers into accounting system and CRM
  • Join industry trade groups and attend functions
  • Take continuing education classes to further industry or product knowledge either through vendors, outside sources, or internally
  • Grow sales territory with the eventual goal of establishing a storefront in the market of interest
  • Identify and establish new customers within the market of interest

Hours, Salary, and Location

Full time position, typically 40 hours a week, Monday – Friday. Salary negotiable and based on experience. Position will initially be fully remote, with business in the Ottawa, Ontario market. Must reside in Ottawa, ON area.

Necessary Experience

  • Experience in HVAC, Temperature Control or Building Automation Systems
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build long term relationships with customers and internal employees
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to quickly learn and retain new concepts
  • Excellent time and project management skills with strong attention to detail
  • High degree of organization, accuracy, and flexibility; exceptional attention to detail
  • Team player and collaborative
  • Proven ability to be a self-starter with ability to initiate action and follow an effort through to completion
  • Familiarity with Windows platforms and Microsoft Office 365
  • Reliable Transportation is required
  • Training provided

Preferred Experience

  • Bilingual in English & French an asset
  • HVAC
  • Building Automation
  • Mechanical & Electrical background a plus
  • Understanding of warehouse operations including shipping and receiving
