Rockstar is on the lookout for a talented Environment Artist with a passion for game development.

This is a full-time, in-office position based out of Rockstar’s development studio in Andover, MA.

WHAT WE DO

  • The Rockstar Games Environment Art Team creates visual storytelling through the creation of fully realized environments.
  • We shape the environments and assets that bring the player experience to life.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and map a wide range of realistic 3D art that is used to enrich in-game environments.
  • Create procedural 2D and 3D art using traditional modeling packages (such as 3ds Max, Maya, Blender, etc.) and procedural node graphs (such as Houdini, Blender, Substance Designer, etc.).
  • Work across a wide range of styles and visual targets while maintaining Rockstar’s artistic standards.
  • Communicate timelines effectively and proactively seek and apply feedback from leads and directors.
  • Participate in R&D and problem solving to find artistic solutions to technical problems.
  • Stay informed on the latest technology related to 3D art development.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3 years of experience as a 3D Artist within gaming or similar industry.
  • Excellent 3D environment art creation skills and all-around artistic expertise and flair.
  • Eagerness to learn new workflows and software tools.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of self-direction and motivation.
  • Experience with Houdini and a working knowledge of VEX.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic, milestone-driven environment.

PLUSES

Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.
  • An understanding of physically based materials.
  • Experience with DCCs like 3ds Max, Adobe Photoshop, or Substance Designer.
  • Experience with real-time game engines and toolsets.
  • Experience with scripting languages like MAXScript or Python.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • All applications must be accompanied by a portfolio to be considered. Portfolios must showcase examples of procedural art generation (including placement of assets and/or full geo asset generation).

The pay range for this position in Andover, Massachusetts at the start of employment is expected to be between the range below* per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.

Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
