About the role:

8am is in search of a Billing Systems Administrator to own the configuration, design, and functionality of our core billing platforms, including Zuora, Stripe, and related systems that support our end-to-end revenue operations. As the Billing Systems Administrator, you are experienced in managing complex billing environments, including subscription lifecycle management, invoicing, payments, and financial data integrity. You are well versed in building and maintaining integrations between billing systems, Salesforce, and internally developed products, as well as leveraging automation tools like Workato to streamline processes. You are an extremely collaborative individual with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders. You are a creative problem solver with a passion for optimizing systems and delivering scalable, reliable billing operations that support business growth.

What you'll do:

  • Own the administration and optimization of billing systems (Zuora, Stripe), including product catalogs, pricing, subscriptions, invoicing, payments, and revenue workflows

  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity across billing platforms, supporting reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting

  • Manage system configurations, environments (dev/QA/UAT/prod), and user access to support cross-functional teams (Finance, Ops, Customer Success)

  • Design and maintain integrations between billing systems, Salesforce, and internal tools, ensuring reliable and scalable data flows

  • Troubleshoot system and integration issues, monitor data syncs, and resolve discrepancies across platforms

  • Drive automation and process improvements using tools like Workato to streamline billing operations and the customer lifecycle

  • Partner with Engineering, Finance, and Operations to enhance systems, support data migrations, and implement scalable, compliant solutions

About you:

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience administering billing platforms such as Zuora, Stripe, or similar subscription billing systems

  • Strong understanding of subscription billing concepts including pricing models, invoicing, payments, and revenue recognition principles

  • Experience building and maintaining integrations between billing systems, Salesforce, and custom-built applications

  • Hands-on experience with middleware and automation tools such as Workato (or similar platforms like Zapier, Mulesoft, etc.)

  • Experience working with APIs, webhooks, and data integration patterns

  • Strong business analysis and functional experience, including requirements gathering, solution design, and deployment to end users

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with both business and technical teams

  • Experience supporting financial operations processes such as billing cycles, reconciliations, and reporting

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, finance, or equivalent work experience

  • Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools and technologies to improve workflows, enhance decision-making, or drive innovation.

Additional Information
The annual salary range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000. The salary range for performing this role outside of the US / Austin / California may differ.  8am is committed to offering competitive, fair and commensurate compensation and has provided an estimated pay range for this role. Actual compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and education.
