About the Role

The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth by developing new customer relationships and expanding opportunities with existing customers. This role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, strengthening Vermillion’s presence across key programs and platforms, and increasing overall profitability.

In this position, you will evaluate market conditions, develop sales strategies aligned with the company’s long-term goals, and work to improve Vermillion’s market position. The role requires active prospecting, strategic relationship-building, and managing opportunities from initial contact through closing.

Key responsibilities include monitoring major programs for company products and services, following up on customer Requests for Quote (RFQs), forecasting and closing sales opportunities, and maintaining accurate progress updates in the company’s CRM system. You will regularly travel to meet with customers, attend trade shows, and collaborate with manufacturing representatives to promote Vermillion’s capabilities.

You will also participate in internal sales meetings, maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external partners, and report monthly sales progress at the board level.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring all major programs for Vermillion Inc
  • Develop marketing strategies and goals to increase sales defined by the organizations long-term strategic goals
  • Prospect for new customers as well as associate Vermillion on new platforms and programs with existing customers
  • Submit progress updates and data through Company’s CRM
  • Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met and closed
  • Follow up on all Requests for Quote (RFQ) for current and potential customers
  • Travel to various business locations and trade shows with Company’s manufacturing representatives to make sales calls and promote business
  • Report monthly Sales progress at the Board level
  • Actively participate in the Company’s sales meetings
  • Maintain favorable working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Support the Company’s values, vision, direction, and strategic goals

About You

You are a motivated sales professional who enjoys building relationships, identifying opportunities, and closing deals in a technical or manufacturing environment. You are comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and representing your organization in front of customers and industry partners.

You bring strong communication and presentation skills, an analytical approach to sales strategy, and the ability to develop lasting relationships with customers and internal teams. You thrive in an environment where strategic thinking, persistence, and attention to detail are valued.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field strongly preferred
  • Five or more years of outside sales experience, preferably in a technical manufacturing environment
  • Program management experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and company product capabilities
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Strong sales presentation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, manufacturing representatives, and internal teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly
  • Strong attention to detail
