Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate

Commis I (Asian)

to join our culinary team in Gandhinagar, India. As an integral member of our kitchen brigade, you will specialize in Asian cuisine, contributing to the preparation and presentation of authentic, high-quality dishes while supporting smooth kitchen operations.

  • Prepare mise-en-place (cutting, chopping, marinating ingredients)
  • Assist in preparation of basic Asian dishes (Chinese, Thai, etc.)
  • Follow standard recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines
  • Support Chef de Partie and Sous Chef during kitchen operations
  • Cook simple dishes under supervision
  • Maintain consistency in taste, quality, and plating
  • Ensure cleanliness of workstation, utensils, and kitchen equipment
  • Follow HACCP and food safety standards strictly
  • Store and label food items properly
  • Set up and close the assigned kitchen section
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely (wok, burners, fryer, etc.)
  • Assist during busy service periods to ensure smooth operations
  • Follow FIFO (First In First Out) for stock rotation
  • Help in stock checking and daily requisitions
  • Minimize food wastage and maintain portion control
  • Coordinate with team members for timely food service
  • Maintain discipline and effective communication in the kitchen
  • Learn Asian cooking techniques and recipes
  • Attend training sessions and briefings
  • Follow instructions from senior chefs
  • Maintain personal hygiene and grooming standards
  • Report any equipment issues or safety hazards
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (2-3 years) in a professional kitchen, with a focus on asian cooking
  • Diploma or degree in Hotel Management / Culinary Arts
  • Basic knowledge of Asian cuisine (Chinese, Thai, etc.)
  • 1–2 years of experience in a similar role (preferred in 4/5-star hotels)
  • Knowledge of kitchen hygiene and food safety standards (HACCP)
  • Basic knife skills and understanding of cooking techniques
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the kitchen hierarchy
