This role will own the integrity of our financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and full compliance with audit and tax requirements.</p> <p>The Controller will also play a critical role in preparing the company for scale, including supporting debt and equity financing activities, and building the accounting infrastructure needed for a high-growth healthcare organization.</p> <p><strong>Success in this role</strong></p> <h4><strong>Accounting & Financial Reporting</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP</li> <li>Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and all supporting systems</li> <li>Develop and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and documentation</li> <li>Partner with FP&A to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis</li> </ul> <h4><strong>Internal Controls & Compliance</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Design, implement, and continuously improve internal controls across all financial processes</li> <li>Ensure compliance with healthcare regulatory requirements, GAAP, and applicable state/federal laws</li> <li>Lead audit readiness efforts and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors</li> <li>Oversee tax compliance, filings, and coordination with external tax advisors</li> </ul> <h4><strong>Revenue & Healthcare-Specific Accounting</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Oversee revenue recognition processes, ensure accurate accounting for complex healthcare billing and telemedicine revenue streams</li> <li>Partner with operations and revenue cycle teams to improve financial visibility and controls</li> </ul> <h4><strong>Strategic Finance & Capital Readiness</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Support debt and equity financing activities</li> <li>Ensure financial statements and processes meet institutional investor and lender expectations</li> <li>Build scalable financial systems and processes to support rapid growth</li> </ul> <h4><strong>Systems & Process Optimization</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Evaluate and implement accounting systems and tools to improve efficiency and scalability</li> <li>Drive automation and process improvements across accounting workflows</li> </ul> <h4><strong>Team Leadership</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Build, manage, and mentor the accounting team as the company grows</li> <li>Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Requirements for the role</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)</li> <li><strong>8+ years</strong> of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles</li> <li>Experience in healthcare, telehealth, or a regulated industry strongly preferred</li> <li>Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit processes</li> <li>Experience supporting audits and managing external auditor relationships</li> <li>Exposure to venture-backed startups and/or high-growth environments</li> <li>Experience supporting fundraising (debt and/or equity) is highly preferred</li> <li>Familiarity with healthcare revenue cycle and reimbursement models is a plus</li> </ul> <p><strong>Work environment</strong></p> <ul> <li>This is a fully remote role but we are currently only hiring candidates located in the following states: <strong>AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, ID, IL, KY, MA, NC, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, WA, and WV.</strong></li> <ul> <li>Changes to working location require pre-approval from People Operations and are not guaranteed.</li> </ul> <li>Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.</li> <li>Office Requirements: Boulder teammates working with sensitive information <strong>must</strong> have a dedicated, private workspace with a lockable door and high-speed internet to maintain a secure, distraction-free environment, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards</li> <li>Boulder Care employees are free to use our river-front HQ located in Portland, OR whenever they would like</li> </ul> <p><strong>Expected hours of work</strong></p> <p>This is a full-time remote position expected to work 40 hours between Monday-Friday during standard business hours.</p> <p><strong>Hiring process:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Hiring Manger Interview - 45 min video</li> <li>Technical Interview - 45 min video</li> <li>Panel Interview - 45 min video</li> <li>Hiring Manager Final Interview - 45 min video</li> <li>Exec Final Interview - 60 min video</li> <li>Anticipated Start Date: June/July 2026</li> </ul> <p><strong>Compensation</strong></p> <p>The starting pay range for this position is <strong>$160,000 - $180,000</strong> per annum; <em>base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
