Corporate Tax Specialist - Sales and Use Tax - Houston candidates only

Houston based company with national multi-state operations and business transactions is seeking a solid Tax Accountant / Corporate Tax Specialist who will focus on managing and optimizing corporate sales and use tax processes, ensuring compliance and accuracy across the many states where there is tax nexus.


This role involves handling State sales and use tax matters while supporting regulatory tracking and process improvements within a large, collaborative team environment. The role is 100% office-based with no travel requirements and utilizes specialized systems for tax processing.


Salary is competitive and has generous benefits. The role is in office and dress is business casual.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate tax compliance and reporting for state sales tax in all U.S. state with a business tax nexus
  • Perform detailed tax analysis and research
  • Enter data into Avalara for tax return processing
  • Manage timely and compliant tax filing across multiple states
  • Monitor regulatory changes impacting indirect tax obligations
  • Drive process improvements to streamline tax operations
  • Handle sales and use tax matters across various jurisdictions
  • This role will not file state income tax returns, but rather just ensure tax payments are made in each of the applicable states

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in indirect tax, specifically multistate sales tax
  • Must have a Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • Must be in the metro Houston area, will not consider out of area candidates
