Position Summary

As the Creative Director (IC6) dedicated to the Yahoo Search and Mail brands, you will define the overarching creative vision and drive the marketing strategies that elevate these essential products within our shared services model. Reporting to the Head of Marketing Studio, you will act as a strategic individual contributor, partnering closely with product and marketing leadership to move from planning to high-impact execution.

You are a player-coach: a high-level strategic thinker with exceptional creative taste who remains a hands-on designer and storyteller when the work demands it. You will lead by influence, ensuring that our creative output—both visual and verbal—is fresh, on-brand, and highly optimized through modern, AI-augmented workflows.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Creative Leadership: Define and evolve the creative strategy for the Search and Mail portfolios. Impact the direction and resource allocation for major campaigns, ensuring visual and verbal storytelling excellence across all touchpoints.

  • Workflow Optimization: Identify and implement efficiencies to accelerate the concept-to-execution cycle, replacing repetitive production tasks

  • Campaign Architecture & Narrative: Lead the conception and high-fidelity execution of multi-channel campaigns. Ensure a seamless marriage between design and copy to create narratives that engage broad audiences.

  • Strategic Briefing: Craft and refine creative briefs that translate business objectives into actionable, bold creative directions.

  • Iterative Validation: Exercise judgment in validating and refining AI-generated creative outputs, ensuring they meet Yahoo’s rigorous brand standards while maintaining a focus on human-centric storytelling.

  • Cross-Functional Influence: Build deep partnerships across the business, contributing to long-term strategic planning and ensuring creative work aligns with broader Business Unit (BU) goals.

  • Trend & Technology Innovation: Proactively suggest and integrate emerging AI tools and design technologies into the team's toolkit to keep Yahoo Search and Mail competitive and innovative.

Basic Qualifications
  • 9+ years of creative leadership experience within consumer tech, digital media, or top-tier advertising agencies.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Fine Arts, Advertising, or a related field (firm requirement).

  • Proven experience integrating AI-assisted design tools into a professional creative workflow to increase output quality and velocity.

  • Mastery of visual storytelling and a portfolio demonstrating exceptional taste and high-impact multi-channel campaign experience.

  • Expertise in translating complex strategic goals into simple, compelling creative narratives.

  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and Figma, with experience in prompt engineering for creative ideation.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience specifically within the Search or Web-Mail categories.

  • Strong copy background or significant experience partnering closely with copywriters to define and evolve a brand’s verbal identity.

  • Demonstrated ability to validate and audit AI-generated assets for brand consistency and technical accuracy.

  • A commitment to continuous learning and experimentation in evolving, AI-augmented creative environments.

The compensation for this position ranges from $129,210.00 - $281,305.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
