We are currently seeking Exploration Geologist to be part our Exploration team at Tropicana Gold Mine and reports directly to the Senior Exploration Geologist. This role is accountable for supporting exploration activities and completing assigned project work that furthers geological understanding and exploration success in the near-mine and regional environments. There is a requirement for remote camp work up to three hours’ drive from the mine for up to eight days at a time as part of the role.

 

This role is offered on a permanent basis and is based on a FIFO 8/6 roster out of Perth or Kalgoorlie.

 

About the role

 

  • Adhering to all safety procedures and always working in a safe manner
  • Developing and maintaining harmonious, productive working relationships with all contractors and colleagues
  • Independent supervision of drilling activities, ensuring a high level of safety, environmental compliance, and sample QAQC
  • On-ground contractor management and supervision of drill crews, downhole surveyors, and laboratory QAQC
  • High quality geological logging of aircore, RC and diamond core
  • Completing project work as assigned, including geological interpretation, 3D modelling, targeting, and drill hole planning
  • Assisting in maintaining and ensuring the integrity of the exploration database.
  • Providing mentoring and training to graduate geologists and field technicians.

 

About you

  • The right attitude – strong enthusiasm for geology and discovery
  • A relevant tertiary or postgraduate degree in geology
  • Over 2 years’ experience working as an exploration, resource development or mine geologist
  • Excellent geological interpretation skills
  • Experience using GIS and 3D modelling software
  • Knowledge of QAQC practices
  • Current C class manual driver’s licence, preferably with 4WD experience
  • Permanent work rights in Australia are mandatory
