Freelance Data Analyst (Digital PR)

Role Description

ConsumerAffairs is looking for a freelance data analyst to support our digital PR and content team. This role sits at the intersection of data, storytelling, and media — helping us turn raw datasets into compelling, publish-ready insights.

You’ll work from clearly defined methodologies to gather and analyze data, then present it in a way that’s both accurate and easy to understand. We’re looking for someone who is technically strong but also understands how data supports a bigger story.

What you'll do

  • Gather and analyze data based on provided methodologies and sources
  • Clean and organize datasets from a variety of sources
  • Build clear, well-structured Google Sheets with rankings and supporting data
  • Deliver polished, publish-ready data that requires minimal revisions
  • Collaborate with our team to ensure accuracy and alignment
What we're looking for
  • Experience working with and analyzing government data sources, such as the U.S. Census Bureau and Bureau of Labor Statistics
  • Strong background in statistics and data modeling
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting complex data insights in a clear manner
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data handling and storytelling
  • Experience in journalism or creating data-driven content is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Journalism, or a related field is preferred
