Full-Time Assistant Salon Manager / Lead Stylist — Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids Preston Road

Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids on Preston Road is looking for a positive, energetic, experienced cosmetologist with barbering experience to join our team in a Full-Time Assistant Salon Manager / Lead Stylist role.
This is primarily a stylist position with leadership responsibilities woven throughout the shift. We are specifically looking for someone with strong boys’/men’s haircutting skills, salon leadership experience, and the ability to help support salon operations during busy weekends.
This role will work closely alongside both the Salon Manager and Owner to help support daily salon operations, guest experience, and team flow while remaining heavily focused on cutting hair behind the chair. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys leadership, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is excited to grow within the company long-term.
Position Details
  • Full-Time Position
  • Minimum 32 hours per week
  • Saturdays required
  • Stylist-heavy position with leadership responsibilities
  • Majority of shift is spent actively cutting hair behind the chair
  • Management tasks are completed during slower periods between guests/services

Leadership Responsibilities
  • Assist with day-to-day salon operations
  • Help manage salon flow and guest experience during busy shifts
  • Assist with appointment scheduling and front desk coordination
  • Support stylists and help maintain positive team morale
  • Help oversee Saturday operations and maintain salon pace
  • Assist with cleanliness, organization, and salon standards
  • Complete light management/admin tasks during slower times in the salon
Haircutting Responsibilities
  • Perform quality boys’ and girls’ haircuts
  • Must be confident with boys’/men’s haircuts and fades
  • Deliver fast, efficient, high-quality services in a kid-friendly environment
  • Recommend hair products and brushes to guests when appropriate
  • Provide an exceptional experience for kids and families

Qualifications
  • Active Texas cosmetology or barber license required
  • Previous salon management or leadership experience preferred
  • Strong boys’/men’s haircutting experience required

Availability
Required availability includes:
  • Saturdays (required leadership shift)
  • Sundays preferred
  • Additional weekday shifts based on scheduling needs
This is intended to be a long-term, full-time leadership stylist position with consistent scheduling.
