Gallery Assistant

Job Overview
Origin Gallery is looking for someone passionate about art, history, and community! This role will be for a gallery assistant and digital media creator. This role allows for a lot of creative freedom as we are a new gallery in Missoula. The gallery assistant will oversee all social media and marketing operations and report to the head gallerist. Origin Gallery focuses on western and contemporary art and works to include Missoula artists.

Duties

  • Greet visitors warmly, providing information about current exhibitions and upcoming events
  • Assist with the setup, installation, and deinstallation of artworks, ensuring proper handling and display
  • Maintain gallery cleanliness and organization to uphold a professional and inviting atmosphere
  • Support marketing efforts by creating engaging digital content using tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva.
  • Assist with visitor inquiries both in person and via digital channels, offering excellent customer service
  • Manage social media and create daily and weekly posts and videos.
  • Generally assist with art sales. (Training provided until comfortable.)

  • Bachelor's degree required (preferably in art, art history, or design.)
  • Basic familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite applications such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere, and After Effects
  • Good customer service
  • Basic experience with photography and taking videos.
  • Strong understanding of contemporary art and design and have a desire to learn.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work alone and be a self starter.
  • Understand Apple products.
  • Priority to applicants who have worked or interned at galleries/museums in the past or have experience selling art.

Origin gallery offers a $40K a year salary with health insurance, vision, and dental all covered by employers at no expense to you. Daily lunch is covered by employers as well. End of year bonuses are given based upon performance.

Origin gallery will be open Wednesday-Sunday 10-5. A full time schedule of 40 hours is required. We offer a flexible schedule of four 10 hour days, or five 8 hour days.
