JOB MISSION:

As the Global Sports Marketing Manager of Basketball, you will be integral in shaping the immediate and long-term future of the basketball category at New Balance. Working closely with cross-functional teams internally/externally, the role will lead, innovate, and support the basketball category.

This role will manage select basketball athletes and agents and work closely with the basketball marketing and product teams while identifying future brand opportunities aligned with the global strategy. Building strong relationships with athletes, agents, teams, equipment managers, staff, and regional/local internal teams to drive growth for the brand via athletes and brand partnerships. Additional responsibilities include product management, internal operations, and athlete scouting.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Strategically plan, manage, and execute global Basketball sports marketing strategy

  • Manage sponsored athletes on a day-to-day basis providing boutique level of service

  • Manage budget related to product, servicing, and travel while fulfilling key objectives

  • Maximize ROI of athlete partnerships against key business objectives (brand/commercial

  • Develop and foster relationships with agents, athletes, teams and industry leaders

  • Collaborate with global/local athlete services teams to provide best in class service including product delivery, gifting, athlete experiences etc.

  • Facilitate athlete-related requests and ensure timely execution

  • Attend games, photo shoots, charitable activations and other athlete-related events

  • Manage athlete appearances, productions and all other athlete-related events, coordinating with local teams to ensure support

  • Work closely with global basketball marketing and product teams to ensure execution of product development and marketing activation plans.

  • Work closely with product teams to ensure athletes needs are met for performance footwear

  • Manage one direct report

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 6-8 years relevant experience in brand partnerships, athlete partnerships, or sports industry

  • Knowledge, passion, understanding and existing network within basketball industry

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to effectively manage internally and externally at varying levels of seniority

  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and organizational skills

  • Collaborative in approach, a proven project and relationship manager

  • Strategic thinker, with proven analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Self-motivated and entrepreneurial with a high sense of urgency

  • Travel: 30-40% mostly domestic travel, occasional nights/weekends required to attend games and events.

  • Based out of New Balance's WHQ in Brighton, MA. Must be located or able to relocate to the Greater Boston area.

Boston, MA Headquarters - (NB) Only Pay Range: $122,100.00 - $157,500.00 - $192,900.00 Annual (actual base pay varying based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, internal equity, geographic location, and more.)
