Head of Data Analytics

<p>You will lead our global analytics function to ensure Asana's most critical business decisions are grounded in trusted, timely data. As a strategic partner, you will oversee the Marketing, Growth, and Revenue analytics teams — ensuring our Product-Led (PLG) and Sales-Led (SLG) engines operate with maximum efficiency and clear ROI. In an AI-first analytics environment, this role goes beyond traditional analytics leadership: you will define the business logic and metric standards that make self-serve trustworthy, drive adoption of AI-powered analytics tools across Marketing, Growth, and Revenue stakeholders, and shift the team from reactive reporting to proactive decision support.</p> <p>This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. If you're interviewing for this role, your recruiter will share more about the in-office requirements.</p> <h3><strong>What you’ll achieve</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Lead and mentor a global, cross-functional team of analysts across San Francisco, Chicago, and Warsaw, setting a high bar for strategic thinking, executive communication, and AI-augmented ways of working.</li> <li>Drive the strategy for analytics, focusing on acquisition efficiency, spend optimization, and comprehensive dashboards for SLG and PLG motions, with AI-powered self-serve at the center of how insights reach stakeholders.</li> <li>Own the business logic and metric definitions layer — ensuring canonical metrics, definitions, and business rules are well-governed and trusted.</li> <li>Partner closely with Data Engineering and Data Infra to drive adoption of self-serve capabilities, translating business requirements into platform needs and ensuring analyst teams are fully leveraging available tooling.</li> <li>Champion the use of agentic AI and emerging data technologies to advance the speed and depth of our analytical capabilities.</li> <li>Execute with strong executive presence, influencing Executive Leadership Team members and key business partners to drive data-informed decision-making.<br /><br /></li> </ul> <h3><strong>About you</strong></h3> <ul> <li>8-10 years of experience in data analytics or a related field, with at least 6 years in a dedicated people leadership role.</li> <li>Strong technical background with expert-level SQL and hands-on experience with Databricks (Unity Catalog, AI/BI Genie) or equivalent modern data platforms.</li> <li>Demonstrated experience deploying AI-powered analytics capabilities in production.</li> <li>Deep understanding of what makes AI self-serve trustworthy: semantic layers, governed metric definitions, data quality standards, and the organizational change management required for adoption.</li> <li>Proven track record managing international teams through periods of significant change, including the transition from traditional analytics to AI-augmented operating models.</li> <li>Exceptional communicator able to translate complex datasets into clear, strategic narratives for executive audiences.</li> <li>Demonstrates curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.</li> <li>At Asana, we're committed to building teams that include a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills, as this is critical to helping us achieve our mission. We believe that compensation should be reflective of the value you create relative to the market value of your role. To ensure pay is fair and not impacted by biases, we're committed to looking at market value which is why we check ourselves and conduct a yearly pay equity audit.</p> <p>For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $269,000 - $316,000. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified.</p> <p>In addition to base salary, your compensation package may include additional components such as equity, sales incentive pay (for most sales roles), and benefits.
