Role Description

Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for a Continuing Medical Education (CME) Intern to join our Medical Education Department. This position is a full-time, 40 hours per week, internship opportunity with a primarily remote work arrangement and the ability to attend in-person meetings as needed at the MAPMG Regional Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Please note, this position is ineligible for benefits. The summer internship program runs for about 12 weeks with a start date of May 29th and end date of August 14th.

Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, CME, the CME Intern provides administrative and program support to the Continuing Medical Education (CME) program within the Medical Education Department. This role primarily supports the CME program’s reaccreditation process as the organization prepares its application and supporting documentation for submission to the Maryland State Medical Society (MedChi). The internship offers hands-on experience with accreditation standards, program operations, and the administration of continuing medical education programs within a large integrated healthcare system.

You can expect to:

  • Provide administrative and operational support to the Senior Program Manager, CME and the Senior Program Coordinator, CME.
  • Collate and format reaccreditation documentation in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat, including creating and organizing PDF bookmarks for submission materials.
  • Audit Performance-in-Practice (PiP) activity files using established checklist requirements to ensure documentation compliance.
  • Review and edit documentation and coordinate narrative reviews with subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Create CME activity evaluations and post-activity surveys using Articulate Storyline, and upload, configure, and test them in the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Support the closing of CME evaluations and surveys, compile participation data, and generate attendance and learner summary reports.
  • Compile American Board of Surgery (ABS) credit claims and prepare monthly reports for board reporting.
  • Provide testing support for CME enduring material courses prior to launch within the LMS (SumTotal).
  • Update the CME website with webinar recordings, course schedules, licensure updates, and program information.
  • Assist with Learning Management System administration including module creation, learner enrollment, basic user support, and troubleshooting issues such as certificate or transcript requests.
  • Support the administration of the MAPMG Retired Physicians Association (MRPA) and Emeritus groups through membership tracking, LMS account setup, communications, and renewal reminders.
  • Assist with general administrative and operational activities to support the CME program as needed.
  • Assist the Medical Education Program Coordinator with general administrative and operational activities in support of the UME and GME programs as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must be a current student enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in related field; Recent college graduates are ineligible for the internship program.
  • Must be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for the duration of the internship program.
  • Excellent computer and technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large datasets in Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas, macros, and data manipulation tools.
  • Strong communication and follow-through skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage deliverables.
  • Must be able to commute to the Washington D.C. regional office as needed.
  • Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.
  • Must provide documentation of the Covid vaccine 2-dose series (or J&J 1-dose) prior to October 1, 2023, or documentation for 1-dose of the most current Covid vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) as a condition of employment.
  • Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment.

Requirements

  • The starting hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.00 to $25.00, which considers an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors.
  • Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
