Summary

At New Charter, we are seeking a Tier 2 Cloud Engineer (in other companies this person could hold the title of Cloud Support Engineer, Azure Systems Administrator, or Microsoft 365 Administrator), to support and maintain Azure and Microsoft 365 environments while serving as a key escalation resource for Tier 1 technicians.

In this role, you will administer Azure infrastructure including virtual machines, virtual networks, NSGs, storage accounts, and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD); manage Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and Intune; troubleshoot identity, MFA, and Conditional Access issues; support RBAC assignments and security configurations; execute established cloud standards; and assist with PowerShell scripting to streamline provisioning, user lifecycle management, and operational workflows.

To be successful in this role, you must have 2–4 years of progressive IT experience with hands-on Azure and Microsoft 365 administration in production environments. Required experience includes managing user accounts and licensing, troubleshooting authentication and identity issues, working with Azure networking fundamentals, and supporting security controls under established standards. You must demonstrate strong troubleshooting methodology, the ability to follow structured processes, and clear documentation skills. Ideal candidates will have experience in MSP-style environments, exposure to automation practices, and a desire to grow into more advanced cloud engineering responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as escalation support for Tier 1 cloud-related tickets
  • Administer and maintain Azure infrastructure resources
  • Support Microsoft 365 tenant configuration and issue resolution
  • Troubleshoot identity, MFA, and Conditional Access issues
  • Manage RBAC role assignments under established standards
  • Execute cloud configuration changes following documented processes
  • Assist in developing and maintaining PowerShell scripts
  • Document solutions and contribute to process improvement
  • Collaborate with Tier 3 engineers on complex escalations

Skills & Experience

  • Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in multi-tenant or MSP environments
  • Foundational scripting knowledge in PowerShell
  • Strong customer communication and documentation skills
  • Salary: expected to be $90,000 to $100,000 Dependent on Experience

Preferred Certifications (One or More certifications of the following)

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102)
  • Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator (SC-300)
  • CompTIA Security+ or Network +
  • AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect Expert)
  • ITIL Foundation
