Position Description Primary Purpose:
This role is responsible for analyzing, balancing, and reconciling gas and liquid measurement data to identify, investigate, and resolve lost and unaccounted for (L&U) variances, measurement discrepancies, and imbalances while ensuring data integrity, regulatory compliance, and accurate reporting across assigned assets. The position supports SLNG, Elba Express, Bear Creek, Elba Liquefaction, SNG, MEP, and GLNG by partnering with operations, engineering, commercial, and third parties to maintain reliable asset and operational balances, improve measurement processes, and mitigate financial and operational risk.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Research and reconcile lost and unaccounted for gas and liquid on designated company assets/pipelines. Analyze measurement data for trends, looking for discrepancies and anomalies using historical trends and knowledge of other operational considerations. Perform data analysis/audits of 3 rd party physical measured points on Kinder Morgan assets Analyze measurement comparison reports and investigate discrepancies outside of defined tolerances. Initiate, track and finalize requests for measurement adjustments from third party companies. Utilizing both the asset and operational balances, analyze and investigate imbalances. Work with the other analysts, L&U engineers, and operations personnel to resolve imbalances. Create and maintain asset & operational Balances as required. Analyze and verify the accuracy of system line pack on applicable pipelines. Assist the downstream business groups in tracking and resolving physical to contractual L&U variances. Coordinate L&U meetings as required. Document discussions and action items according to department and SOX Control Procedures. Report accurate physical pipeline L&U information according to department procedures. Perform data analysis/audits of physical measured points on Kinder Morgan assets. Analyze measurement comparison reports and investigate discrepancies outside of defined tolerances. Initiate, track and finalize requests for measurement adjustments from third party companies. Complete and/or assist with point requests and point setup in measurement and accounting systems. Provide timely response to measurement data inquiries, data reports per requests from internal and external customers. Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of applicable industry related standards and guidelines regarding the measurement of natural gas and liquid products (AGA, GPA, SOX, NAESB, BLM, etc.) Acquire an understanding of the corporation's primary business models including the business functions of gathering, transporting, and processing of natural gas and liquids. Assist with system development, enhancements, system testing, documentation, and training. Assist with development and implementation of new measurement procedures and processes. Work with Measurement Manager to develop project plans, set goals, tactics, and timelines. technical and procedural knowledge and help train other team members as required. Provide backup support for other team members as needed. Notify management of immediate and potential problems affecting the quality and timeliness of measurement data. Routinely produce grammatically correct reports, summaries, policies, procedures, and memos. Communicate effectively (written and orally) with team members and internal/external customers. Ensure personal conformity and support team decisions, departmental policies and procedures, and all mandated industry standards. Participate on special projects and assignments as delegated by management. Participate in team and department level meetings. Organize, schedule, and conduct various meetings as required and accurately document meeting notes and action items. Place priority on safety by attending safety meetings, acquiring knowledge of safety guidelines/goals, and working to ensure department and corporate safety guidelines are followed. Position level, job title and pay will be determined by candidates' level of experience and skill.
Position Requirements Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Associate Degree from an accredited college. Previous experience in a related field/industry may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience / specific knowledge:
Measurement experience preferred, particularly in the areas of data collection, data editing, data analysis and system balancing and lost and unaccounted for investigation. Intermediate to advance proficiency levels for Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.) Well-developed math skills including the ability to understand and apply mathematical equations, formulas, fractions, percentages, etc. Technical understanding of the functions and responsibilities of the Measurement Department, SCADA, Network Communications and Data Systems (Data Integrity) Certifications, licenses, registrations: Valid driver license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel). Competencies, skills, and abilities: Possess excellent written and oral communication skills and communicates effectively with team members, management, and other business groups. Proficient in applicable software related systems/tools required to perform specific job functions including applicable Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.) Self-motivated, takes personal responsibility for developing proficiencies needed to effectively perform job functions. Effective in setting and meeting priorities and individual goals. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work individually and in a collaborative team environment. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and communicate with discretion. Place emphasis on attention to details and produce an accurate work product. Follow work procedures and rules and adhere to required work schedules. Adhere to department and corporate level policies and procedures. Effectively prioritize work responsibilities and manage assignments, meeting established timelines/deadlines. Assertive in pursuing difficult issues and bringing them to a timely and thorough resolution. Apply analytical skills and use objectivity to resolve issues from multiple perspectives and make recommendations based on results.
