Mechanical Fitter

Description

This role involves the preventative and corrective maintenance of Toyota Hilux vehicles, ensuring they are maintained to the highest standard. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical fitting, specifically with Toyota vehicles and be capable of working independently in remote locations.

Requirements

Qualifications & experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or trade certification in automotive mechanics is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Motor Vehicle Mechanical Fitter or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of motor vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and suspension.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose complex mechanical issues.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills to effectively interact with team members and supervisors.
  • Physical fitness and dexterity to handle physically demanding tasks.
  • Willingness to adapt and learn new technologies and repair techniques.
  • Valid HR/HR-B driver's license and a clean driving record (if required).

Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on Toyota Hilux vehicles.
  • Conduct routine servicing and inspections to ensure vehicle reliability and safety.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on vehicles.
  • Manage stock levels and ensure spare parts are available for timely repairs.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, including hot work permit requirements and confined space regulations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using Skytrust and other designated systems.

 

Selection Criteria

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Mechanical Fitter, preferably with FIFO.
  • Proven experience working with Toyota vehicles, specifically Toyota Hilux.
  • Experience in auto electrical work (Auto Sparky).
  • Certificate III or above in a relevant mechanical trade.
  • Hot Work Permit.
  • 4WD Operation Certification.
  • Confined Space Entry Certification.
  • Senior First Aid Certification.
  • Must be available to work on a 2/2 roster in remote locations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
