Loudoun Medical Group (LMG), one of the largest and most diverse physician-owned, multi-specialty group practices in Northern Virginia, has exciting employment opportunities for an experienced medical assistant to support a busy surgery practice in Dulles, VA.

General Medical Assistant responsibilities include:

  • Assisting Physician with clinical procedures
  • Obtaining patient vital signs
  • Brings patients back to exam rooms and prepares patients for physician by obtaining accurate medical history, vital signs and other necessary clinical information.
  • Administers medications and injections per physician orders.
  • Performs triage through appropriate communication and documentation.
  • Set up sterile field for procedures and prepares specimens to send out to reference labs in accordance with laboratory guidelines and insurance plan requirements.
  • Reports lab, pathology and radiology results to patients per physicians’ direction to ensure timely receipt and reporting of results.
  • Assists physician with discharge instructions and necessary patient follow-up and education. Includes calling in prescriptions into pharmacies when necessary.
  • Assists in management of patient records electronically.
  • Prepares rooms for procedures – ensures proper functioning of medical equipment and maintains adequate stock of supplies. Cleaning and Autoclaving of instruments.
  • Ensure exam rooms are cleaned between patients and at the end of the day.
  • Works with front office staff when clinical information is required to coordinate insurance referrals and authorizations.
  • Provides support to front office staff when requested.
  • Works with Office Manager and/or physician(s) to develop and implement clinical policies and procedures in accordance with internal and external regulations and guidelines.
  • Works with other personnel in office to achieve department objectives.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years Medical Assistant experience
  • Experience in general surgery/specialty, preferred
  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills
  • Must have strong clinical skills
  • Must be able to work independently and on a team
  • EMR experience preferred (Pulse and/or ECW)
  • Experience with inventory/stocking medical supplies
  • Professional demeanor
  • Bi-lingual not required but a plus
