Working as part of our Oncology team that is on the cutting edge of cancer care and treatment, our Medical Assistants play a crucial role in the daily patient flow, assisting a specific Physician/APP. Assisting with rooming patients, taking vitals, and communications on behalf of the provider, our MA’s play a crucial role in the Cancer Care Continuum. Promotes efficient patient flow and patient care (i.e. exams, and procedures). Performs clinic support tasks including miscellaneous clerical tasks, answering phones, and maintaining physician’s schedule. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.<br><br><strong>Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.</li><li>Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.</li><li>Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.</li><li>Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.</li><li>Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.</li><li>Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, including but not limited to, hormones and biological growth factors.</li><li>Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.</li><li>Processes instruments and equipment as needed.</li><li>Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.</li><li>Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as required or directed by physicians.</li><li>Schedules patient tests, procedures and hospital admissions and schedules appointments to follow-upon test results, as applicable.</li><li>Obtains new patient records and previous test results, x-rays, scans, etc.</li><li>Performs other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing faxing reception, etc, as requested by supervisor or physician.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Education<br><br></strong><strong> Qualifications <br><br></strong><ul><li>High school graduate or equivalent.</li><li>Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.</li><li>Current CPR certification required.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Experience/Training<br><br></strong><ul><li>Minimum (1-3) years of experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant, preferred.</li><li>Phlebotomy experience preferred.<br><br></li></ul><strong>More About The Company<br><br></strong>Compass Oncology team brings together leading cancer experts in the fields of surgical, medical and radiation oncology, pathology and palliative care to provide the most comprehensive cancer care possible and an even more cohesive patient experience.
