This role is unique; you will be responsible for maintaining the stability and performance of our current legacy environments while simultaneously architecting, migrating, and managing our <strong>future-state database infrastructure</strong>.</p> <p>As a consultant-minded DBA, you will act as a trusted advisor to our customers, ensuring their data remains secure, highly available, and scalable as they transition to modern cloud or hybrid architectures.</p> <p><strong>Employment Type- It's a contract role for 6 months (Remote) with potential to extend or convert. ***Start date: Immediate joiner****</strong></p> <h3><strong>Responsibilities</strong></h3> <h4><strong>Core Database Management (Current State)</strong></h4> <ul> <li><strong>Administration:</strong> Perform day-to-day monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Oracle 12c, 19c, and 21c environments.</li> <li><strong>Performance Tuning:</strong> Proactively identify bottlenecks using AWR, ADDM, and ASH reports. Optimize complex SQL queries and memory structures.</li> <li><strong>High Availability:</strong> Manage and maintain <strong>Oracle RAC</strong>, <strong>Data Guard</strong>, and Golden Gate for real-time replication and disaster recovery.</li> <li><strong>Security & Patching:</strong> Execute quarterly RU/PSU patching and ensure compliance with security standards (encryption, auditing, and user access control).</li> <li><strong>Exadata</strong>: Strong expertise in managing Oracle databases on <strong>Oracle Exadata</strong>, including deployment, configuration, patching, and lifecycle management.</li> </ul> <h4><strong>Strategic Transition (Future State)</strong></h4> <ul> <li><strong>Cloud Migration:</strong> Lead the migration of on-premises databases to <strong>Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)</strong>, AWS (RDS/EC2), or Azure.</li> <li><strong>Modernization:</strong> Implement and manage <strong>Autonomous Databases</strong> (ADW/ATP) and Exadata Cloud Service.</li> <li><strong>Infrastructure as Code (IaC):</strong> Utilize Terraform or Ansible to automate database provisioning and configuration management.</li> <li><strong>Architecture Design:</strong> Assist in designing scalable, multi-tenant architectures that align with the customer’s long-term digital transformation goals.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Managed Services Excellence</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>SLA Management:</strong> Ensure all database services meet or exceed defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).</li> <li><strong>Customer Advisory:</strong> Translate technical database concepts into business value for stakeholders.</li> <li><strong>Incident Management:</strong> Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for critical production outages.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Qualifications</strong></h3> <ul> <li><strong>Experience:</strong> 5–8 years of dedicated Oracle DBA experience, preferably within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or a large-scale enterprise environment.</li> <li><strong>Education:</strong> Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.</li> <li><strong>Certifications:</strong> Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) is required; OCI Solutions Architect or Autonomous Database Specialist certifications are highly desirable.</li> <li><strong>Communication:</strong> Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage client expectations during high-pressure migrations.</li> <li><strong>Mindset:</strong> A forward-thinking approach—you don't just "fix" databases; you optimize them for the future.</li> </ul> <p> </p><div class="content-conclusion"><p><em>66degrees is an Equal Opportunity employer.
