Patient Care Tech (PCT) - Emergency - PRN

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Complete timely and accurate documentation as per Health System/affiliate policy.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients as described in unit/department-based competencies, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide care as directed to achieve desired patient outcomes for patients newborn thru geriatric.
  • Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
  • Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications :

Required Education and Experience

  • Certification as an MA, CNA, EMT, or HHA in the state of Kansas OR at least one semester of Nursing School

Required License/Certifications/Registrations

  • Current BLS/CPR card prior to participating in patient care activities.
  • Successful completion of on the job training for sterile technique, maintenance of sterile field and instrument care/handling (Obstetrics and Surgery)
  • Successful completion of on the job EKG and phlebotomy training (Emergency)

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Previous exposure to a medical environment.

Preferred License/Certifications/Registrations

  • Certification as a MA, CNA, EMT, or HHA in the state of Kansas
  • Phlebotomy Technician PBT (ASCP)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Basic computer skills. Moderate computer skills required for Telesitter.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Possess compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.

Physical Requirements:

With or without accommodation.

  • Very Heavy Work: Occasionally exerting greater than 100 lbs - constantly exerting up to 50 lbs. 75-100% of the day may be standing or walking.
