👩🏾‍💻</strong></p><p style="min-height:1.5em">The Compliance and Permitting Specialist is responsible for researching, applying for, and maintaining all necessary permits and licenses in each city and state where we operate on of our 300+ parking facilities.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a proactive approach to navigating complex and often unclear regulatory processes.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">The ideal candidate is a problem-solver who is comfortable conducting research, but also comfortable making phone calls to regulatory officials and traveling to cities across the USA as needed to secure permits and resolve compliance issues.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>WHAT YOU WILL DO 👷‍♀️</strong></p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Permitting and Licensing for New Facilities:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Research and identify all required permits, licenses, and registrations for new parking facilities in the cities and states AirGarage operates.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Prepare and submit applications for permits and licenses, ensuring all documentation is accurate and submitted on time.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Follow up with local government agencies to track application status and resolve any issues or discrepancies.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Manage our Avalara license management software</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Work closely with our regional and central operations teams to ensure we are aware of regulatory changes that may impact our business.</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Ongoing Compliance Management:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Maintain a detailed database of all permits and licenses, including expiration dates, renewal requirements, and associated fees.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Proactively manage permit renewals to ensure uninterrupted compliance, submitting renewal applications well in advance of expiration dates.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Monitor changes in local and state regulations that may impact permitting or licensing requirements and adjust processes accordingly.</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Tax Compliance:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Work closely with the finance team to ensure compliance with all relevant tax obligations, including sales tax, business & occupation (B&O) tax, and specialized taxes like commercial parking taxes.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Research tax requirements in each jurisdiction and ensure proper registration, filing, and payment schedules are maintained.</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Research and Problem-Solving:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Conduct in-depth research into local permitting and tax regulations, often navigating unclear or complex processes.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Communicate directly with city and state officials via phone, email, or in-person visits to clarify requirements and resolve issues.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Document findings and create standardized processes for recurring compliance tasks to improve efficiency.</p></li></ul><p activities, including applications, correspondence, and approvals.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Use project management tools to track deadlines, prioritize tasks, and ensure no permits or style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>WHAT YOU NEED 👩🏼‍🎓</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">2+ years of experience in a compliance, permitting, or regulatory role, preferably in commercial real estate or a related industry (but not required).</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience navigating government processes, such as applying for permits or licenses, is highly preferred.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Familiarity with Avalara software is a plus.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Familiarity with tax compliance (e.g., sales tax, business taxes) is a plus.</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>IMPORTANT NOTE 🚨</strong></p><p style="min-height:1.5em">AirGarage is a remote-first company, but we also value in-person collaboration to strengthen trust and teamwork.
