Horizon helps teams deploy, govern, and scale MCP servers. The buyers showing up today are security-minded and platform-minded enterprises who care about access control, auditability, and keeping sensitive data safe.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">This is a <strong>UI-focused, front-end-leaning full-stack</strong> role. Your strength is the product surface: deep front-end craft plus strong opinions about how users interact with the product: the user flows and information architecture, the web app experience, and the framework and underlying technologies. We're explicitly <em>not</em> hiring a stylist or a pure UX researcher. We're hiring an engineer who understands the underlying technology well enough to <strong>guide AI tools rather than rely on them for technical judgment</strong>, and who can turn complex governance concepts into something legible and intuitive.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">You'll own features end-to-end. from the user problem, to the flow and information architecture, to a polished, shipped experience backed by solid full-stack implementation. And you'll be a <strong>thought partner</strong> to the rest of the Horizon team: we're deliberately hiring two engineers into this profile so the product surface is never owned by someone working alone — you'll bounce ideas around, reinforce hypotheses, and set the bar for how Horizon feels.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">You'll report to <strong>Eddie (Edward Park), Director of Engineering for Horizon</strong>, and partner directly with our CEO, GtM partners, and early customers to turn field signal into working software fast.</p><h2><br>What You'll Do:</h2><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Own end-to-end UI and product features in Horizon — from user problem to information architecture to shipped, polished experience. You define what "done" looks like.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Set the bar for how users interact with Horizon — the web app experience, the flows, and how complex governance concepts are made legible.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Bring deep front-end craft — TypeScript, React, and the underlying web technologies — and the judgment to <em>direct</em> AI development tools rather than depend on them.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Be a thought partner to the team — collaborate closely so product and UX direction is a shared conversation, not a solo burden.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Translate enterprise signal into product — partner with GTM and customers to turn the "enterprise-legible" story (gateway plugins, PII filtering, audit logs, SCIM) into experiences buyers immediately understand.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Write maintainable, performant full-stack code — your center of gravity is the product surface, and you're capable across the stack when the feature demands it.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Develop deep product knowledge of the MCP ecosystem and AI/LLM tooling space.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Participate in on-call / incident response and help maintain production reliability standards.</p></li></ul><h2><br>Your Qualifications:</h2><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">5+ years of full-stack engineering experience with a front-end focus, and demonstrated success shipping user-facing products people find intuitive.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Track record of shipping in high-ambiguity, early-stage environments without a dedicated PM or design team. Senior enough to pull context from across the org and push back on the team — including on UX.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Deep front-end craft: strong proficiency in TypeScript, React, and modern UI libraries (e.g. TanStack), plus real understanding of the underlying web technologies — enough to guide AI tools, not lean on them for technical direction.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Strong product and UX judgment. You think in user flows, information architecture, and how a product is actually used, and you have opinions and the craft to back them up. (This is UI in the broad sense — UX thinking <em>plus</em> front-end engineering — not styling/CSS specialism or pure user research.)</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Comfortable across the full stack, with your energy on the product surface.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience building with, or genuine interest in, the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and AI/LLM tooling. You follow the landscape closely.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Self-directed with strong judgment and clear communication.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Real fluency with AI development tools. You've shipped meaningful work with Claude Code, Codex, or their equivalents. You stay accountable for what they produce: you direct them with specs legible to humans and machines; and use them to create a high trust production environment for users.
