Property Accountant/Bookkeeper

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Property Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the financial records of property portfolios, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Duties

  • Maintain and update property-related financial records using accounting software such as QuickBooks online, AppFolio, Sage,and similar platforms.
  • Perform general ledger accounting and reconcile balance sheets regularly to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare and process journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable transactions with precision.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and account analyses to verify transaction accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Assist in budgeting processes and monitor expenses against budgets to support financial planning efforts.
  • Generate detailed financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for internal review and external reporting.
  • Support audit preparations by maintaining organized documentation of all financial activities related to properties.

Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks online, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms; experience with AppFolio is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and double-entry bookkeeping practices.
  • Knowledge of property-specific accounting functions including lease management, rent collections, and expense allocations.
  • Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and account analysis efficiently.
  • Familiarity with technical accounting concepts such as journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, debits & credits, and account analysis.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks such as budgeting, financial report writing, and tax preparation simultaneously.
