Redshift SME with Medicaid Compliance - Remote

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking an Amazon Redshift SME/Data Platform Engineer (Medicaid Provider Analytics). This role is fully Remote (U.S.).

About the role:
Join a mission-driven environmental health organization building a cloud analytics platform to identify and address Medicaid provider compliance risks. You will be the hands-on Amazon Redshift expert responsible for performance, reliability, security, and cost optimization, partnering with data engineering and analytics teams to deliver scalable, governed insights.

Key Tasks:
* Administer and optimize Amazon Redshift (RA3/Serverless): WLM, distribution/sort keys, query tuning
* Monitor health, availability, and spend; Implement observability (logs/metrics/alerts)
* Design and run backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
* Enable secure, compliant analytics: encryption, RBAC, audit logging, governance support
* Support data ingestion, transformation, and modeling; optimize pipelines and complex SQL
* Integrate within AWS ecosystem (S3, Glue, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch) and support CI/CD + IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation)
* Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis; Automate operational runbooks

REQUIREMENTS:
* 5+ years in data engineering/data platform roles
* Deep Amazon Redshift administration and optimization experience
* Expert SQL (tuning complex queries at scale)
* Hands-on AWS services: S3, IAM, CloudWatch, Glue (and related tooling)
* Experience with security, governance, and compliance controls
* Familiarity with SRE practices: monitoring, reliability, and automation

Preferred qualifications:
* Experience with Medicaid/CMS systems and provider compliance analytics
* Environmental health data domain experience and/or knowledge of data standards
* Visualization tools: Tableau, Power BI, or QuickSight
* Government or regulatory client experience
* Redshift Spectrum and/or Redshift Serverless experience

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
