Respiratory Therapist (RT) - Per Diem PRN - $49.69 per hour

RT Responsibilities:

  • Assess and evaluate patients with cardiopulmonary disorders to determine their respiratory care needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Perform a variety of respiratory therapy treatments and procedures, including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, chest physiotherapy, and mechanical ventilation, according to established protocols and physician orders.
  • Monitor and assess patients' respiratory status, oxygenation, and ventilatory support, adjusting therapy modalities and parameters as needed to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests, such as arterial blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, and sleep studies, to evaluate pulmonary function and assess treatment effectiveness.
  • Educate patients and their families about respiratory conditions, treatment options, medication administration, and self-care techniques to promote compliance and improve respiratory health.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapy colleagues, to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documentation, and billing information in compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety protocols, and interdisciplinary rounds to enhance patient care delivery and promote a culture of excellence.
  • Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and advancements in respiratory therapy through continuing education, professional development activities, and participation in professional organizations.

RT Qualifications:

Here are basic qualifications and fundamental nursing skills of Nursa RTs:

  • Current and valid RT license
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and/or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
