Senior Design Engineer

<p>Description</p><p>The Senior Design Engineer supports engineering, drafting, and field activities while developing practical experience in CanFAb systems and processes. They assist in field engineering activities as well as supports production design, product drawing, and project management activities. The Senior Design Engineer has the responsibility to conduct field/on-site measurements and assessments and complete related project drawings such that drawings can be used to design, order/manufacture, and install completed solution.</p><p><br></p><p>The position will also be responsible for partnering with Project Management staff to ensure proper completion and installation of projects. The Senior Design Engineer will also assist the Manufacturing team with conversion of field drawings to production drawings and installation drawings. The position will support other activities as requested, generally related but not limited to engineering, design, and drawing. Working under moderate supervision, the Senior Design Engineer applies professional judgment to standard assignments and contributes to projects within the engineering function.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Responsibilities not limited to:</strong></p><p><br></p><p>Field Engineering Support</p><ul><li>Assist with site visits to collect measurements and project data</li><li>Document field conditions, constraints, and safety considerations</li><li>Support development of design inputs from field observations</li></ul><p>Design & Drafting</p><ul><li>Produce 2D and 3D drawings using CAD tools (AutoCAD, Inventor)</li><li>Translate field measurements into accurate drawings with guidance</li><li>Maintain drawing documentation, revisions, and file organization</li><li>Assist in development of Bills of Materials (BOMs)</li></ul><p>Project Contribution</p><ul><li>Contribute to engineering deliverables for assigned projects</li><li>Work with Project Managers and engineers to complete defined tasks</li><li>Incorporate feedback into revisions and updates</li><li>Support preparation of submittals and installation documentation</li></ul><p>Cross-Functional Support</p><ul><li>Provide drawing support to manufacturing and installation teams</li><li>Assist Applications Engineers and Regional Managers during quoting</li><li>Participate in installation activities to build product understanding</li></ul><p>Learning & Development</p><ul><li>Build knowledge of BRD systems, products, and standards</li><li>Develop proficiency in engineering tools and drafting practices</li><li>Use data and feedback to improve accuracy and performance</li></ul><p>Scope & Autonomy</p><ul><li>Works under moderate supervision</li><li>Handles standard assignments and defined portions of projects</li><li>Applies professional judgment within established practices</li><li>Does not own full project lifecycle</li></ul><p>Requirements</p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or other STEM fields</li><li>5+ years of experience with Autodesk products, including but not limited to Inventor and AutoCAD</li><li>Ability to perform field measurements while maintaining compliance with site safety and performance requirements</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office</li><li>Experience with 3D scanning and design is a plus</li><li>Strong ability to read technical drawings and blueprints, and to visualize equipment-related product designs</li><li>Collaborative, flexible, and team-oriented mindset</li><li>Willingness to travel domestically up to 50% of the time</li></ul><p>-----------------------------------------------------------------------</p><p>At CanFab a VMC Group we believe in supporting our employees both professionally and personally.
