<p><b><b>Senior Software Development Engineer</b></b></p><p><b><b>About the Team/Role</b></b></p><p><span>We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong API and back-end expertise to join our team. We are part of the ‘Connected Fleet’ team, developing tools to assist clients driving towards the modern vehicle experience. In addition to working closely with the Sawatch development team of six, you will regularly interface with other WEX engineering teams. </span></p><p><span>You’ll help design and develop intuitive, performant web and back-end applications and deliver seamless customer experiences that enhance the customer experience. These platforms allow large fleets and transportation companies to operate their fleets more efficiently, prevent and reduce fraud and make data-driven procurement decisions.</span></p><p></p><p><b><b>​How you’ll make an impact:</b></b></p><ul><li><p><span>Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance web applications.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Develop public REST APIs using Python and Node for inter-service and inter-system communication.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Implement comprehensive automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, end-to-end, load, and performance testing.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Identify bottlenecks and tech debt; drive incremental scalability, and stability improvements.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Develop and enhance automation frameworks for testing, monitoring, auto-scaling, continuous integration and deployment to reduce time to market.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Conduct code reviews (comment, approve, seek revisions, merge), and champion engineering best practices, and continuously raise the quality bar.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Troubleshoot complex production issues, devise fixes, author root cause analysis documents, and ensure lasting performance and reliability.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Maintain robust documentation (design docs, run books, change management docs, and readiness plans).</span></p></li></ul><ul><li><p><span>Analyze data to understand risk problems and build effective solutions.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Analyze system performance and identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement. </span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><b><b>​Experience you'll bring:</b></b></p><ul><li><p><span>5-8 years of professional experience in software engineering.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Expertise in backend development, including strong proficiency in Python, Node.js, Go or C++ and building and optimizing RESTful APIs and SQL.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Strong foundation in data structures and algorithms, object-oriented design, and problem-solving.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience with cloud-native environments, including Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS/GCP/Azure.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience with event-driven architecture and tools like Kafka.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases; e.g. SQL, MongoDB.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Expertise in designing and developing internet-scale services with scalability, availability, security, and reliability design tenets.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Familiarity with Git, automated testing frameworks, and CI/CD workflows.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Clear written and verbal communication skills, and a collaborative and empathetic mindset.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><b><b>Other nice-to-haves:</b></b></p><ul><li><p><span>Awareness of API security requirements.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience or familiarity with telematics data, time-series data, and/or geospatial data.</span></p></li></ul><ul><li><p><span>Ability to work within existing codebases with legacy systems constraints.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Proficiency with modern front-end frameworks such as Angular or React.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Solid understanding of web security fundamentals including authentication, authorization, and data protection.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Proven experience with micro-frontends or module federation.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience developing with the assistance of AI-driven tools.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience working with geographically distributed teams.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><span>The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position.
