Shipping Specialist

This position requires the individual to contribute to the fast-paced, team-oriented environment of the Quality Fulfillment Services department. The ideal candidate must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and effective time management skills. Success in this role is measured through both individual and team performance metrics focused on achieving 100% on-time shipments while eliminating all errors from leaving the facility.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review sales orders and internal systems to determine material, shipping, and setup requirements for each job.
  • Verify completed sales orders to ensure all required items are included and accurate.
  • Ensure shipments are properly labeled, packaged securely, and charged the correct postal or freight rates.
  • Prepare outgoing shipment labels using UPS WorldShip and ShipWise.
  • Create LTL shipments through third-party freight software and schedule inbound and outbound pickups.
  • Research UPS and freight issues, file claims, and monitor claims through resolution.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with UPS representatives, freight partners, and delivery drivers.
  • Monitor the production scheduler to ensure orders ship by their required due dates.
  • Assist other departments with shipping proposals, samples, and special shipment requests.
  • Provide shipping quotes for UPS and freight shipments as needed.
  • Create, monitor, and release electronic messages to clients and individual recipients.
  • Communicate potential or actual data, material, product shortage, or shipment issues to management.
  • Organize shipment paperwork and distribute it to the appropriate departments or locations.
  • Update and create Standard Operating Procedures as new processes or information become available.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Reliable and dependable transportation for timely work attendance required.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Previous shipping and freight experience preferred.
  • Experience with UPS WorldShip and/or ShipWise preferred.
  • Physically able to push/pull/lift/carry supplies and various works in progress of at least 50 pounds.
  • Physically able to bend/kneel/walk/stand, in tandem with cart, stepstools or rolling ladders, to access supplies and various works in progress or other materials as needed in storage rooms or production areas.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with mandatory weekday or weekend overtime as needed.
