Position Summary:

The Social Media Strategist will support the development and execution of owned content through monthly content planning, performance reporting, community management and scheduling. The Social Media Strategist will outline strategic content plans for owned, earned and paid channels that support client objectives and form strong connections with target audiences. This is an integrated role that will work with specialists across the agency to bring to life brand strategies through social media and other owned and earned channels. The ideal candidate understands brand messaging and best practices to deliver key messages tactically across mediums.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Content planning, including:
    • The development of strategically focused content plans for social, digital and web content that are actionable and measurable against client objectives
    • Gather key business and user insights and apply strategic planning skills to create plans and briefs for content execution
    • Collaborate with Content Creators, Marketing Strategists, Creative Designers and Copywriters to ensure content supports and strengthens user experience and meets outlined objectives
    • Attend and lead content brainstorm sessions and manage deliverables on all assigned accounts
    • Develop high-quality, strategically sound objectives, plans and benchmarks
  • Content performance reporting, including gathering analytics, developing reports and insights and presenting internally and to client
  • Trend monitoring, including staying informed about current social trends to create relevant and timely social media content
  • Social media management, collaborating with Content Coordinators to execute holistic owned content strategies
    • Development of social media content calendar outlines
    • Community management
    • Content publishing and scheduling

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred (Strategic Communications, Advertising, Journalism, Marketing, Film or Public Relations)
  • 2-5 years of social media or agency experience preferred

Required Skills:

  • Must have an extensive understanding of social platforms and how to tailor content to different stages of the marketing funnel
  • Must be an idea generator and problem-solver with excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must understand the value of brand voice, storytelling and how to apply each to owned media
  • Must be creatively-minded and forward-thinking
  • Must have high-level communications skills, both internal and client-facing
  • Must have organizational skills and the ability to plan and maintain multiple clients, projects and deadlines
  • Must have the ability to work within teams in a fast-past environment while maintaining a problem-solving attitude
  • Must be detail-oriented and not afraid to ask questions to ensure each task is completed with precision and efficiency
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Word, PPT and Excel
