Job Description:

Airbus Americas, Inc is looking for a Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineering  A320 Process Engineer to join our team based in Mobile, AL.

As part of the ME PE Leadership team, the incumbent will assist in coordinating all activities related to ME PE team functions within their designated business area. The ME PE Supervisor will ensure that ME PE topics are addressed in a timely manner to support production needs and escalation requirements.  The incumbent will act as a leader and subject matter expert for their business area and will also be responsible for the training and development of new team members.

On ‘Airbus Way’ you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Your Challenges:

  • Work in a dynamic and proactive Multi Functional Team (MFT) involving FAL ME Process Engineer, Production, Quality, Logistics, and Tech Support functions, where you will put forward optimal solutions for all FAL topics.

  • Provide/Ensure Technical Leadership within the FAL MFT and coordinate with other engineering functions (MAP, IE, PPE, Jigs & Tools)

  • Liaise with European FALs within your assigned Business Unit to address complex problems and to determine best practices for manufacturing processes

  • Lead and supervise the Manufacturing Engineers within your team- determine operational priorities, daily targets, goals and objectives in line with FAL targets

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, supervising and providing @context to your direct reports

  • Ensure M.E function targets, daily performance review and feedback are effectively completed within your assigned M.E team

  • Subject matter expert on-site for Manufacturing Engineering PE processes

  • Provide input- lead the processes between the departments and the external stakeholders and provide an excellent service to the customers  

  • Manage and develop a talented and engaged team

  • Interface regularly with internal customers to gauge and improve satisfaction with the team’s performance

  • Coach, lead and motivate your team- provide Technical leadership and guidance to wider MFT/APT

  • Manage attendance, performance evaluations, development plans, and training for the team 

  • Provide technically accurate and clear work instructions for production and quality to follow while performing serial work on aircraft

  • Work as part of an integrated team and MFT/APT to ensure Business Units have visibility and status of critical items in the area

  • Collaborate with HO Process Engineering to define staffing requirements in line with Driver Model, create/update Job Descriptions, manage hiring process, and onboard new team members

  • Develop succession planning to manage turnover while maintaining core business deliverables

  • Optimize and implement processes/ways of working to improve the overall department and business

  • Master the aircraft manufacturing techniques, the industrial processes, industrial planning, organization around the product and the associated procedure

  • Prevention and elimination of disturbances in the manufacturing process 

  • Contribute to elimination/resolution of repetitive NC’s within the FAL

  • Ensure fulfillment of legal and airworthiness requirements to ensure Operation, such as demonstration of compliance for the maintenance of the POA

  • Serve as point of contact and escalation for process adherence and regulatory topics

  • Act as leader in the FAL that embodies all Airbus core values

  • Other duties as assigned  

Additional Responsibilities:   

  • Leading a team of direct reports.

  • Act as delegate for Head of ME as required.

Your Boarding Pass:

  • A Bachelor&39;s Degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or similar and/or combination of education and experience.

  • Successful in managing technical projects to ensure optimal implementation of technical solutions

  • Experience in managing and leading preferred

  • High degree of flexibility and initiative

  • Proven ability to influence others and lead teams

  • Proven ability to coordinate several projects and tasks simultaneously

  • Possess and demonstrate excellent management and leadership skills. 

  • Demonstrate good judgment, flexibility, you are results oriented, able to work under minimum supervision and you observe tight delivery deadlines. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing.

Preferred Experience:

  • Preferred: 5&43; years of manufacturing engineering experience

  • Preferred: Leadership and working experience within fast paced manufacturing environment similar to Airbus Mobile Manufacturing Site

  • Ability to communicate in German, French and Spanish (desirable).

  • Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions

  • Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.

  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.

  • Equipment Operation: able to operate personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors.

  • Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg while engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.

  • Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg.

  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas and on the shop floor.

  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings.

  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.

  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.

  • Travel/Mobility: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time and on short notice.

  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces other business interactions
