Position Summary:

The Tax Accountant is responsible for assisting the VP of Tax, Sr. Tax Manager and other Finance/Accounting personnel with tax compliance, reporting and independent contractor tax withholding on a state, federal and international level in accordance with prescribed company policies, procedures, programs, and practices.

Gather data and file various tax returns monthly, quarterly and annually ensuring that all appropriate adjustments and exemptions are claimed and that the company’s tax liability is accurately determined. Review transactional data, reconcile workbooks computations, and prepare and record adjusting journal entries related to indirect tax accruals on a monthly basis. Assists with registration and payment of various taxes including: ticket, sales/use, VAT, athlete/entertainer and contractor withholding tax. Assists with completing and collecting exemption and resale certificates. Assists with tax calculations in purse and payment files for athlete, contractor and officials’ payment deductions and tax withholding requirements for domestic and international events. Preparation of federal and state tax upload files for 1099 and 1042-s reporting and reconciliation of EFTPS throughout the year. Respond to accounts payable and athlete queries regarding W9 and W8 questions. Responds to email queries from fighters or their representatives in a timely manner.

Respond to tax notices from local and federal tax agencies. Manage outside tax consultants as needed and assist with tax budget amounts. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or EA a plus 3+ years of accounting experience preferred. Moderate/Advanced Microsoft Office experience, emphasis on Excel skills. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and Management in both written and verbal form. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments according to due dates and supervisors’ requests. Ability to perform tax research, problem solving and analytical analysis. Ability to analyze, interpret and communicate tax related information to accounting/finance and other departments. Excellent organizational skills with attention to details. Ability to maintain discretion and confidential information. Competency working with Microsoft Word and Outlook and ability to learn other basic computer programs. Experience filing sales/use returns and withholding tax on non-residents a plus. Experience with JDE, SAP S/4HANA and SOVOS a plus.
