The Float Pool (FP) Technician demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate for the population assigned. The FP technician will receive assignments as delegated by the RN. The FP Technician will be able to access data reflective of the patient’s status and report the information needed to identify each patient’s needs relative to this information. The technician will provide care based on established policies and procedures. The FP Technician performs clerical, phlebotomy, safety attendant and other duties as assigned within their scope.</p> <p><strong>Patient Care: </strong>Provides and documents assistance to patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.<strong>  </strong></p> <ul> <li>Assists/provides patient care throughout the entire patient experience under the direct supervision of the physician and/or the registered nurse. </li> <li>Assists in room turnaround, including appropriate cleaning of equipment, supplies, and environment. </li> <li>Organizes supplies and equipment as needed. </li> </ul> <p><strong>Communication:</strong> Communicates effectively and professionally with all members of the interdisciplinary team, patients, providers, and all levels of healthcare.<strong> </strong></p> <ul> <li>Obtains and documents vital signs as prescribed.  </li> <li>Develops and maintains positive relationships with team members. </li> <li>Resolves conflicts independently as appropriate. </li> </ul> <p><strong>Nursing Expertise:</strong> Assists with patient care while complying with Department, Hospital, and Regulatory policies and procedures.<strong>  </strong></p> <ul> <li>Understands concepts of sterile and non-sterile techniques.  </li> <li>Administers medication as prescribed by the physician appropriately and in a timely manner.  </li> <li>Adheres to safety measures. </li> </ul> <p><strong>The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.</strong></p> <p> </p> <p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p> <p><strong>Education: </strong>High School Diploma or GED required.</p> <p><strong>Experience:</strong> 2 years of acute inpatient or emergency technician experience preferred.
