Temporary Intern - Data Analytics

<h2>Overview</h2> <p>Cotiviti is seeking an Data Analytics Intern to join our healthcare data processing and AI team for Summer 2026. This internship focuses on analyzing Risk Adjustment healthcare data, performing Precision Recall (PR) calculations, and supporting AI/NLP innovation projects. You'll apply SQL and analytical skills to work with medical claims data, create business intelligence dashboards, and gain exposure to AI technologies including large language models and NLP systems. This is an excellent opportunity to combine data analytics expertise with cutting-edge AI applications in the healthcare domain.</p> <h2>Responsibilities</h2> <ul> <li>Perform analytics for Risk Adjustment operations, including PR number calculations, analysis of False Position and False Negative ICD10 Codes, and HCC metrics.</li> <li>Write SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze healthcare data from enterprise databases.</li> <li>Develop Tableau dashboards and reports to visualize Risk Adjustment metrics, trends, and operational KPIs.</li> <li>Work with medical claims data, ICD-10 codes, and Risk Adjustment models to support business operations.</li> <li>Learn and assist with NLP projects, LLM integration, and AI innovation initiatives that enhance medical data processing.</li> <li>Perform data quality checks, validation processes, and reconciliation for healthcare datasets.</li> <li>Assist with data pipelines, transformations, and data preparation for analytics and AI applications.</li> <li>Develop Python scripts for data analysis, automation, and supporting analytical workflows.</li> <li>Query SQL Server and Oracle databases to support business analytics and reporting needs.</li> <li>Document analytical processes, data definitions, and support quality assurance activities.</li> <li>Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.</li> <li>Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.</li> </ul> <h2>Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li>Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, or related field.</li> <li>Junior or Senior standing preferred.</li> <li>GPA of 3.0 or higher.</li> <li>Strong SQL skills required - ability to write complex queries, joins, and perform data analysis.</li> <li>Data analysis experience with Excel, statistical tools, or analytics platforms.</li> <li>Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.</li> <li>Programming experience in Python, Java, or similar languages. </li> <li>Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. </li> <li>Interest in healthcare analytics and AI technologies. </li> <li>Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. </li> <li>Strong communication and presentation skills. </li> <li>Eager to learn new technologies and business domains. </li> <li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>MENTAL REQUIREMENTS</strong></p> <ul> <li>Motivated individual who is a quick learner, intuitive and can manage multiple tasks simultaneously</li> <li>Communicating with others to exchange information. </li> <li>Problem-solving and thinking critically. </li> <li>Interpreting data. </li> <li>Making timely decisions in the context of a workflow. </li> <li>Ability to effectively and efficiently solve normal challenges and problems in an office/business environment </li> <li>Strong organizational skills plus strong written and oral communication capabilities</li> <li>Ability to work both independently and in an Agile team environment</li> </ul> <p><strong>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS</strong></p> <ul> <li>Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.</li> <li>Communicating with others to exchange information.</li> <li>Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.</li> <li>Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.</li> <li>No adverse environmental conditions expected.</li> </ul> <p>Base compensation ranges from $20.00 to $24.00 per hour.
