Transit Supervisor - Langley

Role purpose: To provide operational supervision for transit operations in Langley, ensuring safe, reliable service and supporting a unionized workforce.

Knowledge and Experience

Minimum 1 year of transit industry experience

Demonstrated experience working in a unionized environment with comprehensive knowledge of the collective agreement

Experience supervising transit operations staff preferred

Incident investigation, WorkSafe claims, and safety compliance experience

Scheduling and training experience desirable

Local knowledge of Langley and surrounding area

Minimum Class 4 License or higher.

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to hold others accountable fairly and maintain professionalism in labour relations and performance management

Computer savvy with proficiency in Geotab tracking and operational software

High level of diplomacy and safety mindset

Commitment to customer service and team collaboration

Scheduling and training facilitation skills

Key Accountabilities Operational Leadership

Respond timely to customer service reports during the shift

Conduct incident investigations and reporting including M60 and WebRisk

Perform ride checks and monitor operations via Geotab tracking

Communicate detours, closures, and bus stop notices during shift

Ensure weekend operational paperwork and driver area upkeep

Scheduling & Assignments

Fill in for weekly and daily scheduling duties

Manage daily and weekend bus assignments, monitor when vehicles are out of service

Support weekend bus assignments and operational continuity

Safety and Compliance

Lead small group safety meetings

Support WorkSafe claims and safety compliance initiatives

Fill in for Health & Safety meetings when required

Issue Letters of Warning and verbal coaching for operator infractions with proper documentation

Training & Development

Participate in training programs, refresher training, and operator evaluations

Support disciplinary meetings and investigations as required

Develop and maintain professional rapport with operators and staff

Wage $75,000 per year. This role comes with comprehensive benefits program as well.

Schedule

40 hours per week plus additional hours as needed

Compressed work week

4 days x 10-hour shifts

On-call:

Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for sick book-offs, incidents, and other operational needs

Proposed work shifts (compressed schedule):

Thursday & Friday: 14:00 – 00:00

Saturday & Sunday: 12:00 – 22:00
