This role will be a critical senior leadership position within Compliance, responsible for building and overseeing a financial crimes program that is right-sized for a fast-growing company but robust enough for bank-level regulatory expectations.</p> <p>This role blends strategy and hands-on execution. You’ll shape how Stripe manages AML, sanctions, and financial crime risk across multiple entities and jurisdictions while serving as the primary point of contact for U.S. regulators and a trusted partner to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.</p> <h2><strong>What you’ll do</strong></h2> <h3><strong>Responsibilities</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a robust and effective compliance strategy for Stripe’s U.S. regulated entities, aligning with business goals, regulatory requirements, and global compliance objectives. Ensure the program is built to scale as Stripe, Bridge, and the OCC National Trust Bank grows.</li> <li>BSA/AML Program Oversight: Act as the named BSA Officer for multiple Stripe/Bridge entities, including all US-regulated entities and the forthcoming OCC National Trust Bank. Own and enhance the BSA/AML program to ensure it is designed to efficiently and effectively prevent, detect, and report money laundering, terrorist financing, and other financial crimes.</li> <li>Regulatory Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for applicable regulators, including state regulators, the OCC, and FinCEN. Proactively engage with regulators, support examinations and supervisory processes, and help shape the approach to regulatory oversight.</li> <li>External Influence: Represent Stripe as a senior leader in financial crime and compliance matters. Serve as a credible and effective ambassador in regulator meetings, industry discussions, and other external forums.</li> <li>Partner and Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Product, Engineering, Risk, Operations, Legal, banks, and other third-party providers. Educate stakeholders on Stripe’s financial crime program and controls, and serve as the senior escalation point where needed.</li> <li>Advisory and Consultation: Provide expert advice to key stakeholders on product development, business initiatives, and emerging risks to ensure compliance by design. Exercise oversight to ensure controls are fit for purpose and appropriately calibrated to risk.</li> <li>Operational Oversight: Oversee core financial crime operations, including customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, investigations, SARs, CTRs, and related case management activities.</li> <li>Regulatory Change Management: Accountable for tracking, interpreting, and operationalizing regulatory developments, including OCC guidance, FFIEC updates, FinCEN rulemaking, and other relevant BSA/AML, sanctions, and financial crime requirements.</li> <li>Model and Data Oversight: Provide oversight of financial crime detection tools and model risk management where transaction monitoring or sanctions screening tools involve machine learning or statistical models. Partner with data and engineering teams to evaluate effectiveness, manage risk, and improve controls.</li> <li>Reporting and Governance: Prepare and present regular reporting to senior leadership and the Board regarding the health, effectiveness, and risk posture of the financial crime program. Support governance routines, escalation processes, and decision-making forums.</li> <li>Training and Awareness: Ensure staff and Board-level AML/BSA training programs meet applicable regulatory expectations, including documentation of attendance, completion, and content.</li> <li>Independent Review and Exams: Support internal audit, independent testing, external reviews, and regulatory examinations. Ensure issues are appropriately tracked, remediated, and escalated where required.</li> </ul> <h2><strong>Who you are</strong></h2> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.</span></p> <h3><strong>Minimum requirements</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Experience: 10+ years of experience in financial crime, with significant leadership experience in AML/BSA, including responsibility for regulator-facing financial crime programs such as MLRO, BSA Officer, Deputy BSA Officer, or a comparable senior role.</li> <li>Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of U.S. BSA/AML, OFAC, OCC expectations, and FFIEC requirements, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical, risk-based manner.</li> <li>Strategic Mindset: Ability to think strategically and translate complex regulatory requirements into practical, scalable solutions.</li> <li>Communication: Strong communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally and engage confidently with regulators, senior leaders, and external stakeholders.</li> <li>Operating Style: Comfortable in a startup-like environment and able to move between high-level strategy and hands-on execution.</li> <li>Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.</li> <li>Leadership: Proven ability to lead through influence in a matrixed environment and build trust across business, product, operations, engineering, and compliance functions.</li> <li>Global Experience: Experience working in a global financial institution and building global policies, standards, and frameworks across multiple disciplines and jurisdictions.</li> <li>Digital Assets: Understanding of digital assets, stablecoins, and blockchains. Experience working with third-party on-chain monitoring tools for digital assets and blockchains.</li> <li>Certifications: CAMS or other relevant professional certifications are a plus.</li> </ul>
