Duties

  • Assist veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures by preparing equipment and ensuring a sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
  • Handle animals safely and confidently, including animal restraint, to ensure comfort and safety for both pets and staff.
  • Perform laboratory tests such as blood draws, sample collection, and processing to support diagnostic efforts.
  • Take X-ray images accurately while maintaining proper animal positioning and safety protocols.
  • Support pet care activities including grooming, feeding, administering medications, and monitoring recovery during veterinary critical care procedures.
  • Manage animal records meticulously, documenting treatments, vaccinations, and medical histories using veterinary terminology and animal physiology knowledge.
  • Assist with specialized procedures such as animal catheterization, dental cleanings involving dental terminology, and pet grooming to enhance overall pet health.

Qualifications

  • Prior kennel experience or hands-on animal handling experience is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and animal physiology is essential for success in this role.
  • Experience with veterinary technician tasks such as aseptic technique, laboratory work, X-ray operation, and animal catheterization is advantageous.
  • Strong skills in dog and cat handling, pet care, pet grooming, and dog training will help you excel in supporting our team’s efforts.
  • Excellent communication skills combined with a genuine passion for animals are necessary to provide compassionate care.
