As a Clinical Pathologist the majority of your duties involve, but are not limited to, providing clients with diagnostic evaluation in the area of clinical pathology and providing necessary follow-up consultation. A high level of importance is placed on quality, timeliness, customer service, effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

In This Role:

  • You are responsible for gross and/or microscopic examination of clinical pathology specimens and preparation of pathology reports in a timely manner.
  • You will meet caseload and turnaround expectations.
  • You are responsible for providing telephone consultations to clients.
  • You consult with and assist other pathologists as needed to promote collegiality.
  • You will partner with, advise and assist laboratory personnel in proper specimen processing techniques and function as the pathologist on duty.
  • You promote the growth of IDEXX by actively participating in pathologist meetings and developing and maintaining professional relationships/contact with clients.
  • You participate in the quality control programs.
  • You maintain proficiency and develop diagnostic skills through regular continuing education.
  • Time may be provided off of routine diagnostic responsibilities to allow the pathologist to engage in other professional activities as approved by management. Such activities should improve the function or professional reputation of IDEXX.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

  • You are fluent in English
  • You are familiar with current topics and issues in clinical veterinary medicine.
  • You are able to type and use dictation equipment.
  • You have excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • You have a service-oriented attitude.
  • You are able to organize and prioritize work.
  • Computer skills are required.
  • Experience in a veterinary diagnostic laboratory is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Board certification in clinical pathology - European College of Veterinary Clinical Pathology (ECVCP) preferred or American College of Veterinary Pathology (ACVP)
  • Applications from board eligible pathologists are also encouraged. The candidate will be supported when studying for boards.
