 Skills and Competencies
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of capital markets, ratings processes, and strong analytical skills
  • Deep understanding and experience within the Financial Institutions sector, including Alternative Asset Managers, BDCs, Private Equity, and Fund Finance
  • Ability to lead multiple customer meetings daily across diverse profiles with minimal preparation
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to speak confidently with senior management and larger audiences
  • Proven ability to maintain and grow relationships with customers and intermediaries at all levels with minimal oversight
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
  • High degree of autonomy in driving business outcomes
  • Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges. Demonstrates a growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use.
 Education
  • Undergraduate / First Level degree (or equivalent), preferably in finance, accounting, business, or economics
  • 7–10+ years of professional experience in Financial Institutions and Business Development within the Alternative Asset Management sector (PE, VC, Infra), including experience in Fund Finance (Sub Lines, NAV, CFOs)
  • Knowledge of financial instruments and key dynamics of capital and credit markets
  • Previous experience in business development, financial services sales, and marketing preferred
 Responsibilities

Serve as a senior individual contributor responsible for business development, relationship management, and strategic growth within the Alternative Asset Management sector.

  • Lead Business Development efforts and provide strategic leadership for initiatives within the Alternative Asset Management sector
  • Execute a proactive customer outreach strategy via in‑person and virtual meetings to enhance Moody’s market position and secure new mandates
  • Represent the full Moody’s product suite and educate junior associates on offerings and market positioning
  • Lead discussions with mid‑ to senior‑level market intermediaries, issuers, and potential customers to explain Moody’s rating processes
  • Attend Moody’s and industry conferences, briefings, and events to expand market presence and strengthen relationships
  • Monitor market, client, and peer activity to identify opportunities for new business
  • Lead negotiations on standard and complex terms and conditions; coach junior associates to build negotiation capability
  • Partner with Account Management to evaluate pricing impacts and support new pricing strategies
  • Ensure accuracy and timely updates of internal customer databases
  • Collaborate with internal teams—including Account Management, Analytical, Marketing, Events, Billing, and Pricing—to support workflow improvements and market outreach initiatives
  • Assist other Financial Institutions Group (FIG) business lines as needed
  • Contribute to leadership initiatives within Business Development, including ESG‑related projects
  • Travel up to 25% within the U.S.
 About the Team

The role sits within Moody’s Financial Institutions Group (FIG) Relationship Management team, supporting strategic engagement across the Alternative Asset Management sector. The team partners closely with Account Management, Analytical, and broader commercial teams to drive business growth, strengthen client relationships, and advance Moody’s presence across key markets.

 

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $163,300.00-$236,800.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
